William Yarborough, M.D., FACP will speak about medical therapies in addiction treatment as well as emerging therapies.  Discussion will include addiction mechanisms, prescription drug abuse, medical therapies for alcohlism and opioid dependence.  Learning objectives for this presentation include:
  • Understanding the scope of addiction in the community
  • Understanding brain chemistry involved in addiction
  • Learning how specific drugs effect the brain and behavior
  • Understanding how medical therapies can enhance addiction treatment.

About the presenter:
Dr. William Yarborough is Vice Chair, Department of Internal Medicine, OU School of Community Medicine.  He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine adn Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Yarborough has been the Chief Medical Officer of 12 & 12 Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center for 16 years.  He has been teaching pain management and Addiction Medicine for the last 15 years and has spoken widely about medical treatments of addiction.
