What forms of payment does Parkside accept?
Parkside accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and most commercial insurance as well as cash, check, or credit card. 

Can Parkside help a patient apply for Medicare or Medicaid?
Yes, if you think you may qualify for Medicare or Medicaid, call Parkside's business office at 918-588-8850. You can obtain information about how and where to apply and Parkside can assist with Medicaid applications.

Who is eligible to receive assistance from the By Your Side program?
Any Parkside patient with a need is eligible for assistance through the By Your Side program.

Does Parkside offer bilingual services?
Yes, Parkside has Spanish speaking professionals on staff.

What age children does Parkside treat?
Parkside provides hospitalization for children as young as ten.  Parkside's residential facility and outpatient services provides care for children as young as six. 

Do children and youth at Parkside attend school?
Yes, the children and youth attend school on site at Parkside. 

Are the children and adolescents in the same unit?
Though housed in the same building, the children are in a separate unit from the adolescents.  The children's unit treats 6 to 12 year olds.  The adolescent unit treats 12 to 17 year olds.

What is the difference between the hospital and residential units?
Patients in the hospital are experiencing acute symptoms and require a more intensive level of staff and psychiatrist supervision.  Patients in residential programs are also monitored by staff 24 hours a day, but may see the psychiatrist with less frequency (at minimum once a week) and enjoy a more home like treatment environment.

Does Parkside offer family therapy?
Yes, family therapy is offered through our outpatient program.  And for patients in the hospital or residential program, family therapy is required and essential to positive treatment outcomes.

What is the typical length of stay at Parkside?
A patient's length of stay depends on his or her condition, willingness to engage in treatment and progress.

Does Parkside treat youth with Autism and / or Asperger's Syndrome?
Parkside does not offer specialty programs for these diagnoses but will provide treatment on a case by case basis or make appropriate referrals to other programs.

Does Parkside accept patients with mental retardation?
If the patient is able to function in a group setting, yes.

Does Parkside treat patients with chemical dependency?
Parkside offers a continuum of services for the treatment of chemical dependency including medical detox, Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Program, Dual Diagnosis group therapy and other treatment services.

What is the Chemical Dependency Intensive Outpatient Process Group?
The program is for people struggling with a chemical dependency and works to promote sobriety and understanding of substance abuse, mental illness and recovery. The program meets three times a week for three hours a day. The primary purpose of the group is to prevent hospitalization or rehospitalization.

What is the Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Process Group?
This outpatient group utilizes process-based group therapy to promote ongoing stability and prevent hospitalization or re-hospitalization. Participants develop coping skills, gain group and community based support and develop a relapse prevention plan.

What is the Dual Diagnosis Group?
This outpatient group is available for people with both a chemical dependency diagnosis and a psychiatric diagnosis who have demonstrated a period of recovery.  Group goals include symptom recognition and redirection, coping and stress management skills, and relapse prevention skill development.

What is the Thought Disorder / Symptom Management Group?
This outpatient group provides support to promote ongoing stability from long-term psychiatric conditions that are accompanied by thought disorders.

What is Psycho-Educational Rehab Group?
The primary purpose of this group is to prevent hospitalization and help patients live within their communities.  The group helps patients recognize mental illness symptoms, utilize community resources, identify relapse precipitants, and implement a prevention plan.  The group also provides patients with opportunities to practice social skills. 

What is the Women with Childhood Sexual Trauma Group?
This group provides women who have experienced childhood sexual trauma a safe environment for processing their trauma, correcting cognitive distortions, and developing coping skills.

What is the Free After Care Group?
This group–open to individuals who have successfully completed any chemical dependency program—provides ongoing support to those in recovery.  It is facilitated by a licensed alcohol and drug counselor.

What is the Treatment Engagement Group?
This is a group for adults who have a history of failed treatments or difficulty engaging in a successful treatment process. In this group, participants will identify and overcome barriers to treatment, demonstrate self-expression by utilizing art therapy techniques, see the benefits of change and reduce hospitalizations.

Where is Parkside located?
Parkside is located one block west of Utica between 12th and 13th Streets.

Who do I call at night or on weekends for help?
When you need help, call us at 918-588-8888 (TDD for hearing impaired 918-588-8802).  We're available for you 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.  No matter what hour, you'll find a compassionate mental health professional ready to listen.

We are required by law to protect your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal and protected health information and records. When you begin services at Parkside, we will give you a complete disclosure of our legal duties and privacy practices related to your medical information.
